Walk Barefoot In The Grass...


It is widely accepted that exposure to nature not only makes you feel better emotionally, it contributes deeply to your physical well-being too. From a stroll through a city park to a day spent in the wilderness, exposure to nature has been linked to a host of benefits. But are you aware that the earth beneath your feet is an infinite source of natural healing energy. Imagine the earth as a colossal battery, its surface teeming with subtly rhythmic pulsating frequencies, a planet alive with natural energies, maintaining the biology of global life running in rhythm & balance. The earth is a reservoir of free and mobile electrons, negative charges that have the potential to neutralize the positively charged free radicals or reactive oxygen species (ROS) that can damage cells in the body and lead to inflammation, tissue destruction and dis-ease. It is theorised that the advent of plastic or rubber soled shoes, elevated beds and high-rise buildings has insulated our bodies from the electrical field and healing energy of the earth, which has coincided with increases in chronic illness. When the body is connected to the earth a variety of beneficial physiological changes take place instantly...this is grounding, a.k.a earthing…


Walking barefoot or simply placing your feet squarely on the ground allows contact with the earth…more importantly, contact with the electrical potential of the earth, thus facilitating energetic transfer and free radical neutralization from the ground to our bodies.


Could the inflammation, sickness and pain in your body possibly be due to an electron deficiency ?


Studies show regular grounding evokes an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect and can contribute therapeutic benefits that include regulating the circadian rhythm (natural internal process that regulates the sleep-wake cycle); shift the autonomic nervous system from sympathetic toward parasympathetic activation; improve sleep; provide relief from joint & muscle pain; better manage glycemic control; reduce inflammation and minimise blood clotting. So could grounding be as fundamental as sunlight, air, water & nutrients ?


Perfect conductors include grass, soil, water, sand and untreated concrete. However, do not expect any benefits from asphalt, carpet, wood or vinyl surfaces.

Anytime your bare feet make contact with the earth (soil, grass, concrete, sand) immediate normalization begins almost as if an anti-inflammatory switch is turned on, an endless supply of negative charged free electrons will flow from the place where they are abundant to the place where there are less of them.

Besides walking barefoot, you can ground yourself by sitting / lying on the ground or sitting on a chair with your feet firmly planted on the ground. If possible, have your feet squarely on the ground for at least 30 minutes ideally 2- 3 times daily to receive the energy from below. Even a 20 minute session daily can create a remarkable shift.

To make the experience more effective, dampen the soil/grass for added conductivity – that’s why walking on sand by the beach is so therapeutic.


As radical as it seems, grounding is simple science, a therapeutic technique that involves doing easily achievable activities that ground or electrically reconnect you to the earth, a welcome tool to add to your well-being protocol towards optimal health. Go on, kick off those shoes …
