Join Nature’s Haven

Get involved…come and volunteer in our amazing healing gardens

We're looking for friendly and approachable people with an interest and a passion for the work Nature’s Haven promotes. Ideally, you'd be able to offer a regular amount of time on a weekly or monthly basis. In exchange we offer training and the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life. And, if that wasn’t enough, we’ll hold regular socials and you’ll be given access to the Charity Worker Discount website.

Volunteer taster sessions

If you like the idea of volunteering at Nature’s Haven but want to come and see what we do before committing, you can join a volunteer taster session where prospective volunteers will be able to find out more about our work, take a tour of the garden and meet current volunteers.

We will also discuss current volunteer roles, how to apply for them, as well as DBS clearance.

Corporate volunteering – a rewarding and fun day

There are many ways to get your company involved with the work we do at Nature’s Haven, either through donations, volunteering, charity of the year or long-term partnerships – why don’t you call us and tell us how you would like to help.

We will be running corporate volunteering days together with our experienced horticultural therapists. Our aim is to provide our corporate volunteers with a fun and rewarding day in the fresh air, with the opportunity to work hands-on in our beautiful garden.

Our approach is person centred, fun and friendly.  You would learn more about Nature’s Haven and see with your own eyes the great work we do with our community.

During our corporate volunteering days, you would get to experience a great team-building opportunity, whilst supporting your local charity and making a positive difference to the lives of people living with disabilities, wellness and health issues. Your team would also get to explore the many benefits of gardening and its effects on wellbeing and mental health.

What volunteering gives you:

  • CSR days are a truly active way to show how your organisation plays a positive and responsible part in helping your local community.

  • A day in our healing garden gives your employees opportunities to work collaboratively in a setting outside of the home office or main office; building new relationships and understandings.  We are happy for you to share the results publicly for any PR purposes.

  • Crucially, no previous experience is required.  All sessions are supervised, with full health and safety briefings given before you get stuck in.  We make sure everyone is fully involved with either some of the more heavy-duty tasks such as maintaining raised beds, cleaning the glasshouses or more peaceful activities such as planting seeds or clipping the topiary.

  • In addition to garden activities, we also offer outdoor education team building exercises such as bushcraft, knot workshops (it’s harder than you think unless you’re Bear Grylls) and team challenge.

  • We can build a programme around your needs.

  • Whatever tasks you get involved in; our primary aim is that you have fun in a positive environment.  Hopefully our healing garden will help soothe you as well and you come away with some great ideas for your own garden/balcony/windowsill.

  • We will end the day with a campfire session and share beverage or two and something to eat from the BBQ.

  • Your help is invaluable.  The work carried out by our CSR groups makes a huge difference to Nature’s Haven, as there are many jobs that are just too time consuming or complex for our STH gardeners to carry out.

  • The cost is £1000 per day for up to 20 people, which is currently our maximum number. We host corporate volunteering days on Fridays.

Thank in advance for your all your support and you never know…you may wish to come back as a regular volunteer in your own time.  If you're looking to benefit from a therapeutic gardening programme, please visit our activities page.
